Winter Hair, Don’t Care!

Winter Hair, Don’t Care!

Dry hair, frizzy hair, staticky hair, oh my! Let’s put a freeze on those winter worries and warm up the health and style of your hair!

When the freezing temps meet the cozy warmth of indoors, your hair is caught in the moisture middle. Unless you take action, you can say goodbye to vibrant locks and hello to the winter woes of frizzies and sad, brittle, breaking strands. And don’t forget about your scalp – it can turn into a desert, leading to dryness and those pesky flakes-not the kind that fall from the sky!

It’s time to put a stop to winter's hair-raising antics. Let’s dive into our frosty-fabulous, winter hair care hacks!

Do:

1. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. You can do this daily with a hair and scalp oil or serum. If you haven't jumped on the hair serum bandwagon yet, it's high time to treat your tresses! Apply to damp hair to banish frizz, or on dry hair for a smooth, shiny finish that’ll make heads turn!

2. Continue the luxurious treatment of your hair with a weekly hair masque. Your regular conditioner might not be enough to handle the moisture loss caused during the winter months. A hydrating treatment, like the Lilla Rose Hair Masque (an intense treatment enriched with Shea Butter and Moroccan Argan Oil), is your hair's best friend when it's feeling parched and begging for some TLC.

3. Tackle the frizz with a few easy tricks.

a. A simple dryer sheet rubbed down your hair, especially after removing a hat, can help for a quick (but not long lasting), frizz fix.

b. For a longer lasting fix, gently apply hair mascara, (in a color that matches or adds fun contrasts), to tame those fly aways.

4. Wear a hat with a silk or satin lining. The silk will help shield your hair from frizz and static, and even lesson your hat hair. Using silk hats or hats with silk lining can even help prevent thinning, tangled hair, and split ends by promoting hydration.  Other materials might feel soft and cozy but their weaves can grip and pull at individual hair strands, leading to damage and breakage. Why limit silk to hats? Keep the princess treatment going by using a silk pillowcase for a restful (and great for your hair and skin), night's sleep.

5. Drink up! Did you know each strand of hair is like a little water balloon, packed with 25% moisture? To keep your hair looking fabulous, it needs to stay hydrated. There are tons of products to add moisture, and those are important and helpful, but don’t forget: hydration starts from inside. So, drink plenty of water daily to pamper your scalp, fuel hair growth, banish the winter dryness itch, and help your hair look it’s best.

Don’t:

1. Wash daily. The trend to stretch out those shampoo-free days has been around for a while. But if you're still lathering up every single day, winter is the perfect time to join the club and treat your hair to a day off in between. Over washing will strip your hair of its natural oils which are more important than ever when Jack Frost is nipping at your strands!

2. Apply heat. Since hair is already delicate during this time of year, it’s best to avoid blow drying and hot tools as much as possible. Blow dryers draw the much-needed moisture right back out of your hair. Need to speed up your drying time? Try a bamboo hair towel and cut that time in half in a healthy for your hair way. You could also try shampooing at night, when you might have more time to let it air dry.

3. Walk out into the cold with wet hair. Alright, alright. We did just suggest that you not blow dry your hair. But...leaving the house with your hair wet, would actually be more damaging than the blow dryer. You might end up with frozen, brittle strands that break. Sure, air drying is best, but if you're racing against the clock, it’s better to blow dry on a low setting than go outdoors with a sopping wet head of hair.

4. Worry. On those frosty days when you're channeling your inner hair guardian by skipping the shampoo, blow dryer, and all those hot tools, only to end up with a look that screams "rat's nest?" Don’t worry! It’s time for a Flexi Fix! Seriously, in under a minute, you can twist or bun that wild, wintry mane, fasten it with a stunning Flexi Clip, and voilà—you'll look like you spent hours on your fabulous style! Easy peasy with none of the damage and all the glam!
